The Saskatchewan Health Information Resources Partnership (SHIRP) is a program of the University Library that licenses a sub-set of the University Library's health sciences e-resources for access by Saskatchewan's licensed health care practitioners, post-secondary institution students and employees.

Licensed health care practitioners in Saskatchewan may access SHIRP resources either through their health region library or the SHIRP website. They may request articles not in the collection through SHIRP free of charge. Practitioners who hold UofS Faculty appointments or are Preceptors are encouraged to access resources and services from the University Library website using their NSID.

SHIRP resources cover medicine, nursing, pharmacy, physical therapy and allied health and include:

  • 3 major bibliographic databases (MEDLINE, CINAHL and PsycINFO) and full text from over 2000 journals
  • drug resources including RxTx (e-CPS), RxFiles and Natural Medicines
  • point of care tools including Dynamed Plus and Nursing Reference Center Plus
  • 120 electronic books
  • several resources available as apps for mobile devices

Physical Therapists in Saskatchewan may use SHIRP resources in their clinical practice. They are also encouraged to use the resources to reinforce the National Physiotherapy Advisory Group’s Physiotherapist Role #6 Scholarly PractitionerPhysiotherapists are committed to ongoing learning for the purpose of improving client outcomes through seeking, creating, applying, disseminating, and translating knowledge to physiotherapy practice. SHIRP’s resources may be used to acquire and integrate new knowledge into practice and engage in scholarly inquiry for example.
