Saskatchewan

CPTE administers the national Orthopaedic Syllabus courses in Saskatchewan on behalf of the Saskatchewan Section of the Orthopaedic Division.

The National Orthopaedic Division of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association has developed a syllabus of courses known as the Diploma of Advanced Orthopaedic Manual and Manipulative Physiotherapy. This process is twofold. One purpose is to meet the changing needs of the participants within the system and the changing healthcare and educational environment. The other purpose is to meet the standards and requirements of the International Federation of Orthopaedic Manipulative Therapists (IFOMT), so that the credentials of Canadian orthopaedic physical therapists are recognized internationally.

Instructor Guidelines

Instructor guidelines for the Level 1, Level 2 & 3 Upper Quadrant, and Level 2 & 3 Lower Quadrant have been developed and are now available. These guidelines outline some changes to the current curriculum. The guidelines are available on the NOD's education website at www.orthodived.ca. Clinical Mentorship Guidelines

We urge all physical therapists who have obtained their Intermediate and / or Advanced Examination credentials to register with the National Orthopaedic Division as a mentor. This can be done online via the website at www.orthodiv.org. A Mentorship Guidelines document is also available for the use of both mentors and those working their way through the syllabus system that are required to complete their mentorship hours.

Examination Information

Level 1 Challenge Exam

The Level 1 Exam may be challenged at 4 times throughout the year: March, June, September and December. Information and application forms are available on the Orthopaedic Division website under the Education Committee-General Info heading.
