Course Dates: September 10 – 13, 2020

Location: University of Saskatchewan

This course is a two-part course.  Part A is open to all health care providers and does NOT require palpation skills of the pelvic floor muscles as a pre-requisite.  Pelvic pain is strongly correlated with central pain mechanisms and effective management requires a biopsychosocial approach.  A good understanding of lumbopelvic interactions is important as well as a basic understanding of pain science when enrolling for this course.  Moving away from pathologizing the pelvic floor in pelvic pain allows clinicians to accurately and effectively treat the phenotypes of pelvic pain from a whole person perspective.  Part A is taught by Carolyn Vandyken and facilitated by Christine Epp.

Part B includes a hands-on lab component with internal palpation and is designed for physiotherapists who have had previous training in pelvic floor palpation and treatment.  Part B will include information regarding various pelvic pain diagnoses and teach clinicians hands-on evaluation and treatment skills as well as behavioural management strategies for addressing pelvic pain with patients.  Part B is taught by Christine Epp and facilitated by Carolyn Vandyken.

* Audit Information: For people who have taken an equivalent pelvic pain course the option to audit the course at a reduced fee is available. Proof of previous course completion will be required.
