Students in Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Speech‑Language Pathology programs who accept paid or volunteer roles involving individuals receiving care or rehabilitation must:
- Clearly identify themselves as students, not regulated health professionals
- Not use protected professional titles (e.g., Physical Therapist, Occupational Therapist, Speech‑Language Pathologist)
- Not describe services as Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, or Speech‑Language Pathology services
- Ensure their role, responsibilities, and communication do not represent or imply independent professional practice
These expectations align with provincial legislation protecting professional titles and preventing unauthorized representation of regulated health professionals.
Liability
Students providing services outside School‑approved clinical education placements are not covered by the University of Saskatchewan’s comprehensive liability insurance and assume responsibility for ensuring appropriate coverage.
