Bio

Dr. Mariam Komeili is an Assistant Professor in the School of Rehabilitation Science. She is a licensed and certified clinical Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) with over twelve years of experience working with children and families across Canada, particularly those from culturally and linguistically diverse communities and with a range of neurodevelopmental differences. Dr. Komeili earned her BSc in Psychology from York University and completed her MSc and PhD in the United Kingdom.

Her research aims to reduce barriers to speech-language pathology services for equity-deserving populations by developing and implementing culturally and linguistically responsive assessment and intervention approaches. Focusing on multilingual individuals with communication disorders, her work bridges research and practice by creating tools and strategies that are meaningful, valid, and directly applicable for clinicians, educators, and families.
