Join us for a 2-hour virtual session on practical approaches for Occupational and Physical Therapists in Burn Rehabilitation in Saskatchewan. Learn clinically relevant approaches to wound healing, scar management, positioning/splinting and restoring function across the phases of healing after a burn.  This event was graciously sponsored by the Saskatchewan Burn Fund whose mission encompasses a wide range of initiatives aimed at enhancing burn care and prevention in Saskatchewan. The Burn Fund recognizes the importance of education in improving burn care, supporting professional development of healthcare professionals like Occupational Therapists and Physical Therapists.

 Objectives include:

  1. Briefly review skin anatomy, classification of a thermal injury and estimating surface area.
  2. Outline the typical clinical pathway in Saskatchewan for therapy after a thermal injury.
  3. Describe evidence based and practical OT and PT approaches for the acute and rehabilitation phases, including details on positioning/splinting, wound healing, scar management and restoring function.
  4. Identify opportunities for further collaboration and learning to improve burn rehabilitation in Saskatchewan.
